Beethoven:Sonatas for Piano & Violin - No. 5: Spring & No. 9: Kreutzer. 5 out of 5 stars 3. Audio CD. Verified Purchase. Zukerman's second recording of the complete Beethoven violin sonatas finds him partnered by Mark Neikrug and is certainly one of the best cycles currently available. Zukerman's tone and articulation are perfect for this music. Marc Neikrug is easily as good as Barenboim was in his first recording - if not better. I especially like the way these sonatas are presented as music for an instrumental duo, which is surely what Beeethoven intended, rather than for virtuoso violin with piano accompaniment. The Violin Sonata No. 47 in A major, by Ludwig van Beethoven, is a sonata for piano and violin notable for its technical difficulty, unusual length around 40 minutes, and emotional scope. It is commonly known as the Kreutzer Sonata after the violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer, to whom it was ultimately dedicated, but who thoroughly disliked the piece and refused to play it. 24 Spring : I. length: 10:25 piano: Marc Neikrug violin: Pinchas Zukerman.
