The Stories We Tell Ourselves is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Nothing More, which was released on September 15, 2017. It is the band's second album to be released on the Eleven Seven Music record label. The album's first single, Go to War, topped the Billboard US Mainstream Rock Songs chart in November 2017. The band received three Grammy Award nominations related to the album Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for Go to War, and Best Rock Album for the album itself. On The Stories We Tell Ourselves, songs like Let em Burn, The Great Divorce, and the anthemic Go to War combine progressive nu-metal riffs with electronic adornment and a definite pop sensibility. Ripping Me Apart rides an angular, Rage Against the Machine-style groove into the hip-hop beats and hard funk of Dont Stop, while closer FadeinFadeout examines the cycle of life and death with soaring choruses. If there are two words that best describe Nothing More, they are innovation and evolution. There is no better example of this than Nothing Mores newly released fourth album self titled and the dynamic show they are building around it. Theyve set the highest bar possible for the album and vow to eclipse that, at every outing with the live show. The Stories We Tell Ourselves isn't so much a gigantic leap forward for the San Antonio, Texas based alternative act as it as a showcase in maturity in both musicianship and in singer Jonny Hawkins ripping it out over the grinding grooves, much of them courtesy of guitarist Mark Vollelunga. The record is front-loaded with a bunch of anthemic intensity, evident in album opener Do You Really Want. The one oddity about The Stories We Tell Ourselves comes toward the second half. Buoyed by that success, The Stories We Tell Ourselves fared even better, debuting at number 15 on the 200 chart. Produced by lead singer Jonny Hawkins and the band, the album finds them digging even deeper into a set of songs rife with anthemic choruses and visceral grooves. Included on the album are. Their latest album The Stories We Tell Ourselves seeks to once again supply listeners with a fresh batch of heavy-hitting rock tracks, this time with an even heavier dose of electronics. The real strength of this band, one which continues here, is the energy they can pack into a song. Thats an area a whole host of modern rock bands tend to falter in. Go to War was a smart choice for lead single. Nothing More are a very good rock band capable of offering a bit more bite than your average radio rock these days without going overboard
