Album

Fingerprince is the fourth studio album released as the third by the Residents. The album was recorded between 19741976 and released in 1977. It was intended to be a three-sided record titled Tourniquet of Roses. Due to expense, the project was abandoned and cut down to a regular two-sided album. The third side was originally released separately in 1979 as Babyfingers. For the CD release of Fingerprince, all of the songs from Babyfingers, which were originally supposed to be part of the record. Babyfingers was a release by the avant gardeexperimental rock band The Residents, containing music written for their 1977 album, Fingerprince. As Fingerprince was originally meant to be a three-sided album a concept abandoned due to expense and Monty Python's Matching Tie and Handkerchief beating them to the punch, much of the material was abandoned and the third side remained unfinished until November 1977 although most tracks from the EP was shown at the Residents Radio Special in September 1977. CD1 Fingerprince is a 5 CD, and CD2 Babyfingers is a 3 CD in its own separate sleeve. Both are housed in a fold-out three-panel Digipak. Fingerprince Tourniquet Of Roses. Music Video Distributors, The Orchard is a 1979 EP by The Residents. Containing the tracks from the abandoned third side to Fingerprince, the tracks on the Babyfingers EP have since been re-integrated into the running order of that album on CD reissues. Babyfingers consists of a sequence of tracks cut from the track listing of Tourniquet of Roses, the three-sided album conceived of by The Residents in 1976, which would ultimately be released as a regular two-sided LP under the title Fingerprince in 1977. OverviewTracksLiner NotesLyricsUncle Willie. Fingerprince started out as Tourniquet of Roses, which was to be the world's first three-sided album. This idea was abandoned due to impracticality. Fingerprince and Babyfingers have similar structures: each has one side of short songs with a single longer work on the second side. Walter Westinghouse, on the EP, is a sort of mini-opera, while Six Things to a Cycle on Fingerprince was originally written as a ballet. The piece is similar to an early conceptual piece of improvisational orchestra called Number One. The Residents: Fingerprince Album Review. Ian Canty. March 22, 2018. RalphCherry Red. 2CDDL. Released 23 March 2018. Fingerprince was a marked contrast to Third Reich N Roll one did not expect such fertile minds as the Residents to repeat themselves and eight of the nine offerings that make the album are short-ish almost Pop songs, well the closest the band had got at this stage in their development. Dont worry, the twisted and sinister story-telling, testing of sonic boundaries and all the other Resident outré mannerisms were still all intact. The Residents - Babyfingers 1981.
